Cucumber chutney /Dosakaya pachhadi

Cucumber is a very edible fruit and is one of the most widely cultivated vegetable in the world ,which comes from the cucumber plant 'cucumis sativus' which is part of the gourd family.
  •  Its very good for skin and eyes.
  • good source of vitamin k.
  • Also its the best food for reducing acidity
Best way to eat this is raw. topped with some lemon juice and salt tastes very good.

I tried chutney with English cucumber instead of yellow cucumber. it tasted so good. here is the recipe

you need

 cucumber chopped 1 cup
green chillies -4 or 5
tamarind  1-2 tsp or lime juice -1/2 cup
coriander - handful

1 tsp Oil
1/2 tsp Urad Dal
1 tsp Mustard Seeds
1/2 tsp fengeek /methi seeds
1 tsp coriander seeds

1-2 red Chillies ( you can use green chillies also or a mix of both)
7-8 Curry Leaves

For the seasoning:
1 tsp Oil
1/4 tsp Mustard Seeds
1/2 tsp urad dal
1 or 2 red chillies
1/4 tsp Asafoetida

1.Heat the oil in a pan and add the urad dal,Mustard Seeds, fengeek seeds .  Add green chillies, curry leaves, and coriander leaves. Grind this with the tamarind paste, salt
if you are using lime juice then don't add it now.

2.now at end add half of the chopped cucumber and run blender for few seconds. Yes only few seconds otherwise you will end up with cucumber liquid .
3. take out from blender add remaining cucumber pieces and mix well.
add lime juice if you are not using tamarind paste.

4.Preparing seasoning: heat 1 tsp of oil,add mustered ,urad dal ,red chillies. once these seeds splutter add asafoetida ,curry leaves.

pour this on chutney.

enjoy with hot rice.

Tip: you can grate cucumber and skip the step 2 and then go to step 3.

Nice chutney recipe. Now I have never seen a yellow cucumber? Is it a zucchini? Will have to ask at the market.
