muthia (steamed)

This a Gujarati dish. I tasted this at long back at one of my friends house. i searched over internet for this site http://www.manjulaskitchen.com/2009/04/06/muthia-steamed-dumpling/.

I followed the basic recipe ,did some modifications . it came very well.

method:

for dough
whole wheat flour -1.5 cup
gramflour /basen/senaga pindi - 1 cup
samolina / suji -1 cop
red chill powder -1tsp( i added less ,as i want it not too hot)
baking powder -1 tsp
salt per taste

veggies:
finely chopped cabbage - 1 cup (you can use zucchini/cucumber etc)
finely chopped spinach  - 1 cup  (methi leaves can also be used)
finely chopped onions(optional) - 1/2 cup

Seasoning:
Mustered seeds - 1tsp
Cumin seeds - 1tsp
Green chilles - 2or 3
Sesame seeds - 1tsp
hing a pinch

Method :
Mix all the dough ingredients

add the all the chopped veggies
add water and 1tsp oil.
knead dough like a pizza dough




make dough into cylindrical shape
and steam it in cooker .( i placed idli cooker in pressure cooker ,added some water to the bottom of the pan and cooked it)
once its steamed ,let it cool.
cut the cylindical shapes to small pieces

Prepare seasoning :
heat  1tsp oil in a pan. add all the seasoning ingredients . let it splutter then add these seamed dough pieces and cook them for  2 min.
stir in between so that it won't get burn.

serve with ginger chutney or ketchup
